The Blue Cave dive in Taormina is one of the most fascinating dive sites on the eastern coast of Sicily. Located north of Isola Bella, this dive is famous for its incredible blue light effects, rocky walls rich in marine life, and the chance to explore a charming natural cavern.
Thanks to its moderate depth and the variety of the seabed, this site is suitable for both Open Water and Advanced Open Water divers.
The Blue Cave is located within the Isola Bella Marine Park, one of the most beautiful places for diving in Taormina.
The dive site is located north of Isola Bella and can be easily reached by boat from the port of Giardini Naxos. From here, it only takes a few minutes of navigation to reach the bay where the dive begins.
The dive begins in the Blue Cave bay, where the seabed lies at about 6 meters of depth below the boat.
From here, a scenic rocky wall is followed towards the south-east. During the underwater navigation, different dive profiles can be chosen depending on the divers’ experience.
After leaving the bay, the dive reaches a depth of about 12 meters, where a section along the wall begins with the open blue of the Ionian Sea on the right.
The maximum depth of the site is about 25 meters.
One of the most exciting moments of the dive is the entrance into the Blue Cave, which takes place at about 14 meters of depth.
Inside the cave, sunlight filters in from outside, creating spectacular blue reflections that illuminate the water and the rocky walls.
The passage through the cave is a swim-through with an exit on the opposite side, always with direct access to the surface. This makes the dive fascinating but at the same time safe for divers with basic experience.

This location makes the Blue Grotto one of the most accessible and popular dive sites in the area.
